CERN Open Days 2019!

14 and 15 September 2019, CERN open days will take place! It will be an opportunity to visit and get to know this largest Big Science institution in Europe.

Open days at CERN are a fixed element of the so-called “Long shutdown”, i.e. periods in which, due to maintenance work, the Large Hadron Collider is not working. Currently, there is a two-year break period in operation of the CERN accelerator complex, during which it is extended and maintained.

Open Days 2019 will enable visitors to get to know the CERN complex – both its buildings and underground facilities. Thanks to free access to debates, film screenings, theater performances, experimental workshops and dozens of thematic exhibitions, each participant will be able to get to know not only the organization itself, but also to understand the essence and potential of its activity.

This year’s edition of open days is held under the slogan: Explore the future with us. Special events on this occasion were prepared by Knowledge Transfer Group, responsible at CERN for technology transfer to industry and society. During the exhibition entitled “Technologies that change your lives” you will be able to see how the impact of advanced technologies originating from CERN have on society and the lives of each of us.
