Announcement:

Design, supply and installation of two-phase CO2 transfer lines for the ATLAS and CMS phase-II upgrade

CERN intends to place a contract for the design, supply and installation of approximately 1.5 km of co-axial, vacuum-insulated CO2 main transfer lines containing liquid or vapour CO2 at a design pressure of 100 bar absolute and temperature between -55 and +25 °C. The installation will take place on the CERN site in two experiment caverns in France and Switzerland. The prototyping work will take place in late 2021, and the production and installation will take place in three windows from 2022 to 2025.

Interested firms shall have proven experience and competence in the design and production of pressure equipment, including welding and qualification according to European norms, as well as of bi-axial transfer lines (a single high-pressure process line insulated by a static vacuum jacket). Interested firms shall further have experience in the installation of complex 3D routings of such transfer lines.
