Announcement:
Supply of austenitic stainless steel plates for the absorber of the hadronic part of the CMS high granularity calorimeter
CERN intends to place a contract for the supply of austenitic stainless steel (AISI 304L – 1.4306) plates for the absorber of the hadronic part of the CMS high granularity calorimeter. The supply consists of about 144 rectangular plates with thicknesses ranging from 50 mm to 125 mm, widths up to 3030 mm, low cobalt content (less than 0.1%) and low relative magnetic permeability (not exceeding 1.05). Approximate total weight is 600 metric tons.
Interested firms shall have a proven experience in the production of large quantities of austenitic stainless AISI 304L (1.4306) plates with low cobalt content (less than 0.1%) and low relative magnetic permeability (not exceeding 1.05).
