ESA BIC is an incubator of entrepreneurship operating as part of a network created, coordinated and co-funded by the European Space Agency. This international institution, dealing with such areas as space exploration and development of related technologies, started to build the network in 2003. ESA BIC centres are a home for startups that rely on business concepts associated with space and space-related industry. Innovative entrepreneurs that run their businesses in the incubator not only have access to office and logistic facilities, but are also granted technical and business support and help in obtaining additional funding and in making business contacts. They may also apply to ESA for initial capital and loans.
The network currently comprises 20 centres located in 60 cities of 17 European countries. Over 650 startups have been incubated there so far. This number grows by 150 each year. ESA BIC will be launched in Poland soon. The incubator will be formed by the following companies and institutions:
The launch of ESA BIC Poland, coordinated by the Industrial Development Agency, is a response to the needs of the booming space sector in Poland. It will open new perspectives to Polish startups.
